Appreciating The Divine Masculine
While our ultimate spiritual essence is beyond gender, we each experience human learning assignments that include gender. Each of us extend through a particular bodily form, through which there is a whole spectrum of possible gender expressions. There are masters who ascended from all points on that spectrum. Since my last blog gave voice to the Divine Feminine, this one will be devoted to appreciating the Divine Masculine.
Since our collective cultural conditioning distorts the terms “feminine” and “masculine” so profoundly, at first we may not realize that pure expressions exist or how to recognize them. Our collective outer world today, still mirrors much that does not reflect the divine masculine. This is evidenced by the long shadows of males involved in childhood trauma, the “me too” revelations and other misuses of male power. However, it is vitally important for women to develop appreciation for Sacred Masculine energy. By playing a part in collective healing, we invite it to be more present in our experiences with males and heal our own inner masculine nature.
Like many women, during my lifetime I experienced some challenging events with significant men in my life. I hadn’t realized the extent of the shadows still with me, until I began spiritual development. As different learning opportunities unfolded I participated in spiritual groups that included both males and females. My husband was also part of some of these groups. There are benefits to working in a mixed group, since the ways that espiritual energy moves through each gender can be energetically complementary.
During many occasions when we came together for retreats, I began to glimpse what I call the divine masculine. I also could also witness and appreciate the inner work required of the men who seek to embody it. In their own ways, my husband and each of my spiritual brothers expressed some quality associated with the Sacred Masculine. I could appreciate their acts of courage, candor and humor. They expressed kindness, deep caring about the state of the world and wisdom,. They also extended respect and support for the unique (and sometimes mysterious to them!) nature of the female journey.
As we each polished our spiritual expression, the noble spirit possible for men to express, was clearly in evidence. I respected them, and they were spiritual colleagues. We shared a path that had real meaning in each of our lives. These positive contacts contributed to my healing, as I learned to let the past go, through forgiveness. A lofty spiritual principle that comes from the Hermetic Tradition states: “As within, so without, As Above, so below”. A congruent principle expressed in A Course in Miracles, reminds us that by taking responsibility for our own unhealed thoughts and emotions we no longer need to project them into our outer relationships with others.. As a result, we call in a different level of “players” to participate in our life story. That is one of the most powerful gifts of practicing forgiveness.

Divine Masculine Masters
During recent years, as I began to contact the ascended masters who are included in Doors to Higher Consciousness. a next-level healing experience occurred. The masters who Ascended from a male lifetime, expressing the Qabalah energy of Chesed, showed up as advanced inner teachers of the Divine Masculine. They are very willing to work with women when we lift our consciousness to meet them. It is helpful to approach them after some forgiveness of any negative life experiences with men has been completed. This allows them a clear field to extend sacred masculine energy to our consciousness – in its purest form.
Every spiritual tradition honors some of these masters. Thirteen are included in my book, though I have also contacted others. Those who attained emotional level mastery sometimes combined wise rulership with a knights battle skill and inner moral compass. They could fight skillfully when this was needed, to usher in times of peace and prosperity that allowed civilization to flourish. King Arthur (and Sir Percival not in the book) mastered battle skill and leadership.inspired by higher spiritual principles. Our own political leaders need enlightened models such as they provide. Other masters at this level developed mastery as a spiritual teacher of their tradition. Some of them were scholars who wrote psalms (King David of Jerusalem) or gathered and codified spiritual texts so transmit practices for spiritual awakening (Buddhist Gampopa).
As I began to meet those who developed mastery at the mental level, they communicated principles or practices from the spiritual traditions they followed during their lifetime directly to my consciousness. I experienced Krishna, who appears in many myths using masculine power -in a protective rather than in a controlling way – to support women. His commitment to spiritual attainment, and to a woman’s inviolate right to choose her sexual partner and availability are profound. Brother Francis of Assisi, experienced the life challenge of having established a spiritual order that later departed from his ideals,. He was a courageous leader who models the importance of cultivating love and compassion, even for our enemies. Being mentored on the inner planes of consciousness along with all who seek his gentle, unflinching strength is a precious gift. In the angelic Kingdom, Archangel Michael extends the flame of the divine masculine, helping us choose only the thoughts that lead us to claim divine Light.
Masters at the spiritual level, such as Buddhist Avalokitesvara, and Hindu Rama, extend profound qualities of Compassion and Kingship. Avalokitesvara is known worldwide, beyond Buddhist traditions, His popularity is evidence for the importance of Compassion, so essential for all of us during this intense time in human evolution. Rama extended an ultimate expression of the qualities Kingship, while experiencing life exiled in the forest, cultivating wisdom..Meeting either of them in consciousness offers a rich experience of the Divine Masculine, as it flows from divine Source toward human experience.
How can we apply the teachings of these Masters?
First, we can recognize that in every time and culture, men have stood beside women, in supportive ways, to the best of their ability. Some of them may be part of our life right now. Whoever they are, we will never forget them; they are honorable men who contribute to us in profound ways.
As you invite one or more of the divine masculine masters closer into your heart you will recognize and appreciate, all the men in your life who work diligently to cultivate sacred masculine qualities within their own life expression. I am blessed to have had such men in my life, who are contributing, along with those of us in female bodies, to a brighter world.
